A Safe and Comfortable Surgical Experience

We understand that anxiety about a surgical procedure is very common. At Belmont Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, your comfort and safety are our highest priorities. As board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Pasquale Eckert and Dr. Blaise Eckert have completed years of hospital-based residency training, making them experts in the safe administration of all levels of anesthesia. We are committed to creating a relaxing, pain-free environment for every patient.

Your Comfort Options

During your consultation, we will have a thorough discussion about the best anesthesia option for your specific procedure and personal comfort level. Our goal is to ensure you feel completely at ease throughout your visit.

Local Anesthesia

For all procedures, a local anesthetic is used to completely numb the specific area being treated. You will remain fully conscious and aware, but you will not feel any pain at the surgical site. For many minor procedures, this is all that is needed.

Nitrous Oxide Anxiolysis (Laughing Gas)

Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that is inhaled through a comfortable nasal mask. It induces a state of deep relaxation and well-being, helping to melt away anxiety while you remain conscious and able to communicate. The effects wear off very quickly after the procedure, allowing you to drive yourself home.

IV Sedation and Office-Based General Anesthesia

For patients with significant anxiety or for more complex surgical procedures, we offer both intravenous (IV) sedation and office-based general anesthesia. IV sedation places you in a safe, deeply relaxed "twilight sleep," where you are unaware of the procedure and will likely have no memory of it afterward. General anesthesia induces a state of deep, controlled unconsciousness for the duration of the surgery. These options allow for an incredibly relaxing visit; you will wake up from your surgery feeling as if you spent time at the spa.

Our Commitment to Your Safety

Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the same advanced monitoring technology found in a hospital setting to ensure your safety during all levels of sedation. Our entire surgical team is highly trained and certified in anesthesia assistance. Dr. Pasquale Eckert and Dr. Blaise Eckert's hospital-based training and board certifications qualify them to provide the highest level of in-office anesthesia care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which type of anesthesia is right for me?

The best option depends on the complexity of your procedure and your personal comfort level. We will discuss all available options with you during your consultation to select the one that is right for you.

Do I need someone to drive me home?

If you are receiving local anesthesia or nitrous oxide only, you can typically drive yourself home. For any level of IV sedation or general anesthesia, you are legally required to have a responsible adult drive you home and stay with you for a period of time.

Are your surgeons qualified to provide general anesthesia?

Yes. As board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Pasquale Eckert and Dr. Blaise Eckert have completed years of intensive, hospital-based residency training, which includes a deep focus on the safe administration of office-based anesthesia and sedation.

What does IV sedation feel like?

Most patients describe IV sedation as a very pleasant and relaxing experience. You will feel drowsy and calm, and while you are not completely unconscious, you will likely have little to no memory of the procedure itself once it's over.
